I’d like to congratulate Athena for being the inaugural recipient of the Won Lee Prize. The jury was inspired by her incredible perspective as an artist, and her dedication to her practice.
— JS Ryu, President and CEO, National accessArts Centre

Administered by the National accessArts Centre in partnership with the family of the late artist Won Lee, this national award commemorates the sculptor’s legacy and celebrates creative excellence among Canadian visual artists living with disabilities. It was juried by an esteemed panel of contemporary artists, curators, writers, and arts professionals from across the country and is the single largest cash prize of its kind awarded to a Canadian artist living with a disability.

Athena was extremely honoured to accept this award and hopes it will bring greater visibility to the work of many talented disabled artists.
